What's Happening?

Happening this week at SQMS:

Tuesday, April 10- Constable Rob James will be in to do a human trafficking presentation for the entire school body at 10 am

Wednesday, April 11- CLT Day- Students will be dismissed at 12:10 pm

Thursday, April 12- All Grade 8s will be travelling to Halifax to the Museum of Natural History to take in the Body Worlds Rx exhibit as part of their Health classes (here a link to take a look at what they will be seeing): naturalhistory.novascotia.ca/body-worlds-rx

Thursday, April 12- Dance from 7-9pm. Price is $7 at the door

Parent Teacher


Parent Teacher will be held Thursday, April 5th from 12-2 and 6-8.

Students will be dismissed at 10:45 am

Report Card Prep Day


SSRSB Schools are cancelled for today- Thursday, March 22


The Report Card Prep Day will be moved to tomorrow- Friday, March 23

Scarlet Fever


Scarlet Fever:

We have been notified of a case of Scarlet Fever, which is being effectively managed at home. We are following the SSRSB policy and are working closely with Public Health to prevent further concerns.

Please read the attached information from Public Health about the symptoms, treatment and prevention of Scarlet Fever. We as a staff are promoting recommended hygiene practices with students, please also promote this at home. If your child becomes ill, let the school know.

French Immersion Parent Information Session


South Queens Middle School (SQMS) is hosting its annual French Immersion (FI) Information Session on February 15 at 6 pm at SQMS. This meeting is for all current grade 5 parents/guardians and students that are interested in the FI grade 6 program for September 2018 at SQMS. A pamphlet with additional details about the program and meeting date  reminder will also be sent home to each Dr.J.C Wickwire Academy student.
